3rd Annual Art in the Park Showcased
Beautiful Art & Foot Tapping Music!

This year marked the 3rd anniversary of the Waunakee/Westport Chamber “Art in the Park” event at Village Park. A beautiful weekend with a draw of over 600 people came and enjoyed beautiful, original art work from 26 vendors. The two day event was held August 25-26 and offered something for everyone. The mediums included photography, jewelry, basketry, pottery and ceramics, wood, drawings, fiber, metal and mixed media.

Art vendors and guests alike enjoyed the live music performed over the weekend. Sponsorship for the musical talent was provided by members of the Arboretum Office Park which include the following businesses: D&S Dental Laboratory, Fitness for Success, Garden Terrace Café, Gatewood Title, Dr. Jennifer Hamilton DDS, Knots Away Massage, Dr. JoAnn Martens DDS, Musical Pathways, ROME Systems, Dr. Claude Sime DDS, Sweet Sophies Restaurant, Livable Communities by Don Tierney, Trowbridge Group, Waunakee Chiropractic, Weiker Physical Therapy and the Wisconsin School of Music Association. To start the fair, the talents of a young band, Union Jack, performed Celtic music. Following them in the afternoon was local talent Dan Collins and his piano. Sunday also featured local favorite John Statz. Food was provided by the Waunakee Optimist club and Gramps–N-Grams Popcorn (Gary & Judy Hahn).

On Sunday, we had three judges rate the artists. The final result was that artist Bettina Madini from Montello with her paintings took Best of Show. First runner up was Jennifer Damrow with her jewelry and second place went to Don Moore with his paintings. Already plans are underway for the 4th Annual Art in the Park. New ideas for the event are being discussed to make the show bigger and better. Watch our website for details.
